Hi! My name is Tom Zyer and I am currently a Sophomore majoring in Marketing at The University of Tennessee. I am so blessed and thankful to be a part of the Global Leadership Scholars program here at Tennessee and am very excited to head off to London in just a little over 24 hours from now!
I live in Chicago, Illinois, which has felt more like Anchorage, Alaska these last few days. Just yesterday the windchill reached -35 degrees (or -37 degrees celsius, I'm trying to start to adjust)! I checked out the weather in London, and it was 93 degrees warmer in London than in Chicago, which has just added even more to my excitement to get across the pond, and maybe a few too many shorts and tank tops slipped into my suitcase in excitement.
More than just the weather, I'm excited to experience a different culture and a different way of life in London. The fact that the cultures in different places in the world can vary so much is one of the coolest things to me and I love to experience the differences. I hope to gain some amazing life experiences while I'm abroad and create memories that last a life time.
Cheers!
- Tom
